5 January 1912
Contract for building signed in San Francisco. Building site established as old Dibble property; construction to be completed in 150 working days; construction cost set at $40,000; cost of furnishings set at $5,000.
30 January 1912
Site layout completed
1 February 1912
Ground breaking; quartz ledge and gravel deposits found while excavating for west wall of the building.
2 March 1912
Concrete poured; re-enforced by waste rock from the Empire Mine.
12 March 1912 First brick laid. Seven bricklayers, each to lay 2,000 brick for a total of 14,000 bricks per day.
20 March 1912 Basement walls finished.
17 April 1912 All brick walls completed.
24 April 1912 Roof trusses raised.
29 May 1912 Furniture purchased from Sloan and Company, San Francisco. Dishes and glasses also purchased on special order from Sloan at a cost of $1,000. Dishes were to be made in England and would take four months for delivery.
8 July 1912 Finish work, featuring Redwood paneled walls on interior of the building, began.
25 July 1912 Windows installed.
25 August 1912 Work begins on laying Ballroom floor. Adjustable “floating” hardwood dance floor.
20 September 1912 Building finished and turned over to the Elk’s Hall Association.
24 September 1912 First meeting in the new building was held in the dance hall (Ballroom) as furniture had not yet been delivered.
1 October 1912

First Initiation in the new building held in the ballroom (furniture not yet delivered) and member #251 initiated.

(Native Daughters of the Golden West contracted to meet each Monday in the Ballroom - they still meet there today. Order of Moose contracted to meet each Thursday in the Ballroom - they now have their own Lodge)

15 October 1912 First Ladies Night held with lodge and initiation at 6:30 and program dancing to follow. A “no-sit” refreshment table was held in the banquet room. Art Hopper’s father sang a solo during the entertainment period. Exalted Ruler Thomas Ingram hosted the affair.
  (Elks Dance Committee held weekly Saturday night dances for the public throughout the winter months.
